Tyler MacKenzie Wins JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Racing Electronics Hardcharger of the Year Award
Salem, IN (October 29, 2019) – 2019 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance Chase for the Championship contender and Rookie of the Year runner-up Tyler MacKenzie had a huge learning season in 2019, his first season competing with a touring late model series. The Maidstone, Ontario native showed up at the series season opener at Birch Run Speedway, a track he had never raced at, which was pretty much the same at every series event in 2019. That event began his season of learning the series and the tracks it competed on.
MacKenzie qualified 22nd at Birch Run but managed to race all the laps and worked his way up to a 14th place finish, the start of a season of improvements at most of the series races. At the series third event at Anderson Speedway he improved 10 positions finishing in 11th. At Baer Field he improved six positions. In the Masters of the Pro’s at Memphis International Speedway he gained seven positions, earning the events Racing Electronics Hardcharger Award.
A broken rear end ended MacKenzie’s Battle at Berlin 251 event at Berlin Raceway giving him his first DNF of the season. The rear end issue flared up again at Winchester Speedway on Labor Day Weekend, giving him his second DNF. An engine issue ended MacKenzie’s day early at Lucas Oil Raceway, but not before advancing five positions. MacKenzie’s gained the most positions in the series Season Championship event at Winchester Speedway, he started in 23 and finished in 11th, earning that events Racing Electronics Hardcharger Award.
In all MacKenzie gained a total of 41 positions throughout the 2019 season, earning the Racing Electronics Season Hardcharger Award. For his efforts MacKenzie will receive a $250 Product Certificate from Racing Electronics for the Racing Electronics Season Hardcharger Award.
Bristol Motor Speedway and Anderson Speedway Racing Electronics Hardcharger Award winner Trever McCoy was second in gained positions with the series in 2019 with 34. Birch Run Speedway and Lucas Oil Raceway event Racing Electronics Hardcharger Award winner Mandy Chick was third in gained positions with 27. Series 2019 Rookie of the Year Award winner Jaden Cretacci was fourth with 15 gained positions. 2019 series Champion and Berlin Raceway Racing Electronics Hardcharger Award winner Dan Leeck was fifth in gained positions with 14.
Other series drivers picking up Racing Electronics Hardcharger Awards during the 2019 season include Jonathan Martin at Baer Field Motorsports Park with nine gained positions and Jack Dossey III at Winchester Speedway on Labor Day Weekend with 17 gained positions.
