Mick Brooks Bowl-A-Thon Fundraiser &
2017 "Zoo" Meet and Greet
Please join us Sunday March 26th, 2017 at Pinz Bowling Alley in Kalamazoo on Stadium Drive.   Due to the devastating incident that happened to Mick Brooks and the hardships it has placed on his immediate family, it is time for the racing family to roll up their sleeves & let's help out the Brooks family!  We need bowling teams to get signed up ASAP and we need donations for items for a silent auction.

Beside raising a ton of money for the Brooks family, Kalamazoo Speedway would like to use this gathering as a Meet & Greet for all of our racers; simply an afternoon for all expected drivers, teams & track employees to gather and help out the Brooks fundraiser.   As always, there is a ton of paperwork that needs filled out for drivers & employees. We will have NASCAR license forms available along with 2017 Driver Information sheets.  We hope to have the NASCAR decal packets available for you to pick up early as well.  We will have minor waivers on hand and new for 2017, all drivers under 18 years old will need to show a birth certificate before the first time your car hits the track.  Bring these in and we will also have a notary on hand to get your minor waiver signed, if both parents are present.

Bowling Details

Bowling will begin at 2pm. We are requesting teams of four be put together to compete in the bowl-a-thon.  The cost is $100 per team, which will include the cost of the two games and shoe rental.  To reserve a spot for your team, contact the speedway office at (269) 692-2423, or email Sarah Maxwell at sara@kalamazoospeedway.com.

The bowler favorite "Strike Pot" will be back! The Strike Pot will be bowled in the 3rd frame of the 2nd game. The Strike Pot will be a $5 buy in, with half of the money going to the winner and the other half to the Brooks' family.

We will be a 50/50 drawing to benefit the Brooks family. After the winner for the money is drawn, we will draw a second ticket. The second winner will take home two season passes to Berlin Raceway for 2017!!

We will be having a silent auction to help raise additional funds as well.

There will be tons of give-a-ways, chances to win tickets and even a chance to win a VIP Skybox for the season opener!

Kyle Busch to Pull Double Duty at Kalamazoo Klash XXV Presented by West Michigan Toyota Dealers

Kalamazoo Speedway is off to a fast start toward making Kalamazoo Klash XXV Presented by West Michigan Toyota Dealers one of the top short track events in the nation in 2017.  Former Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch will headline the Wednesday, August 9 event.

Busch will be pulling double duty as he will run in both the ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Model portion and the Outlaw Super Late Model feature.

"I really enjoyed my experience at Kalamazoo Speedway a couple of years ago - the race track was a lot of fun and the fans were great, so I'm excited to be going back," Busch told Speed51.com powered by JEGS.  "We were able to win the Super Late Model portion last time, but unfortunately our race ended early in the Klash due to an engine failure. Hopefully this time around we can pull of the double and win both events."

Busch will be piloting his own Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota in the SLM feature and will be running an Outlaw SLM housed by Senneker Performance. Senneker Performance is the same company that builds cars for five-time Klash winner, Terry Senneker, Jr.

"I am excited for the opportunity to work with Kyle Busch in a Senneker Performance Outlaw Car for the 2017 Kalamazoo Klash," Senneker said.  "He is my son's favorite driver, so I am even more excited for Reese to see he and I race against each other this summer.  Kyle brings yet another dynamic to the already talented field of drivers, and I am looking forward to the challenge."

Before a single ticket has been sold, Kalamazoo Klash XXV Presented by West Michigan Toyota Dealers, is sure to be a sellout.   Track owner/promoter, Gary Howe, noted that having the West Michigan Toyota Dealers on board made it possible for the Speedway to host Busch for the 25th running of the Kalamazoo Klash quipping that Toyota's tag line of "Let's Go Places" is perfect for how the event is shaping up.

This will be Busch's second appearance at the Kalamazoo Klash.  He previously picked up a win in the Super Late Model portion of the event in 2014.

It is not out of the ordinary for the Kalamazoo Klash to have a star-studded line up. The Klash has seen the likes of a young Matt Kenseth, Ken Schrader, Johnny Benson Jr. and more recently NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Matt Crafton.

Kalamazoo Klash XXV Presented by West Michigan Toyota Dealers is set to take place on August 9 at Kalamazoo Speedway based in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Information about how to purchase tickets and VIP wristbands for reserved seating, dinner and a private autograph session with Kyle Busch will be available in March with grandstand ticket sales beginning in April.  Suite rentals and large groups wanting to reserve a hospitality deck may be booked now by calling (269) 692-2423.

Five Midwest Tracks Come Together to Form Outlaw SLM Series

A quintuplet of short tracks in the Midwest region have come together to form a new Outlaw Super Late Model touring series. Berlin Raceway (MI), Flat Rock Speedway (MI), Toledo Speedway (OH), New Paris Speedway (IN) and Kalamazoo Speedway (MI) have joined forces to create the Sweet Manufacturing Outlaw Super Late Model Series.

The series will consist of six events at five different tracks and will feature existing marquee Outlaw Super Late Model events.  Each track will retain complete control over their events, but the series will allow Outlaw SLM drivers to chase additional prizes including a $20,000-point fund.

"Outlaw Super Late Model racing holds a special place in my heart," said Sweet Manufacturing Outlaw Super Late Model Series Co-Director Shawn McLaughlin.  "I feel like this is one of, if not the biggest thing to ever happen to Outlaw Super Late Model racing. The opportunity to work with these other incredible promoters is truly an honor."

Sweet Manufacturing will put up the $20,000-point fund in an attempt to get more racers at each of the six marquee events.

"Sweet Manufacturing and all of its employees are incredibly proud to be able to support the racers that support us," said Joe Metzger, Sweet Manufacturing Sales Director.  "Randy Sweet has always shown a passion and dedication to Motorsports in general and definitely to Outlaw Late Models."

The inaugural Outlaw Super Late Model Series event will take place on Wednesday, June 14 with the 2nd Gary Terry Follow Your Dreams 125 at Kalamazoo.

On Saturday, July 8 the series will stay in the state of Michigan and travel to Berlin Raceway for the annual Lee Anderson Memorial.  A trip to Flat Rock Speedway for the Stan Yee Memorial on Saturday, July 22 will serve as the third race of the season.

After three races in the state of Michigan, the series will head to the Hoosier State for the Summer Sizzler on Thursday, August 3 at New Paris Speedway.

A return visit to Kalamazoo Speedway will take place on Wednesday, August 9 with the annual Kalamazoo Klash serving as the penultimate race of the season.

On Saturday, September 16 a champion will be crowned for the first-year series when it travels to Ohio's Toledo Speedway for the Glass City 200, which will feature a 100-lap Outlaw Super Late Model race.

In addition to the $20,000-point fund, there will also be contingency awards and the top three finishers in the series will receive trophies for their efforts.

For all six races in 2017, competitors will be competing on Hoosier slick racing tires.

More information about the inaugural Sweet Manufacturing Outlaw Super Late Model Series is expected to be announced soon.

Popular Kalamazoo Speedway Rent-a-Ride Program Returns in 2017!
KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo Speedway's 2017 Rent-a-Ride program begins its third year at the Speedway's season opener on Friday night, April 28 at 7:30.  A complete sell-out in both 2015 & 2016, men and woman, 18 and over, can try out the sport or simply fulfill a lifelong dream of taking the wheel on an authentic track, competing in an authentic race. The experience includes a required mid-week orientation and practice session, all in-car and personal safety equipment, pit passes for the driver and two crew members and a track supplied safety/crew chief. Drivers provide their own two people pit crew, qualify their car through the hot lap session, run in a heat race plus race in the 15 lap Flip Flop Cyber Stock feature with as many as 18 or 20 other cars, just like the pros who run in the division from week to week. The Rent-a-Ride program was a popular birthday and anniversary gift last year with one novice driver taking the checkered flag on his birthday, never previously having been behind the wheel of a race car.

With a nod to the lack of driver and crew experience, all cars in the Flip Flop Cyber Stock division are front-wheel drive, have automatic transmissions and run on stock tires; greatly reducing expenses and the need for expansive set-up knowledge. To keep all drivers on an equal playing field and ensure advantageous car set-ups aren't employed, the entire division might race in either direction from one week to the next. Long known for going the extra mile, Speedway owner Gary Howe and his crew has canvassed the countryside for suitable cars and is spending the off-season in his garage making 12-15  new Rent-a-Ride cars ready for the 2017 season.

An immediate fan favorite, the entry level Flip Flop Cyber Stock division averages 18-20 entries per night; with anywhere from four to six of them rentals. That's enough cars to make it competitive but few enough to avoid a demolition derby. Feature races run surprisingly smooth despite some rather unique displays of car handling.

A complete Rent-a-Ride experience costs $295.  The fee will include you and your two pit crew members pit pass for both your training session and your Friday night race event.  All insurance and your temporary Nascar License fee are included in this fee as well.  All Rent-a-Ride dates will easily sell out early, so a pre-season reservation is highly recommended.  Corporations have used the experience for a day or evening of team building or entertainment; corporate pricing is available. For more information or to reserve a car, call the Speedway office at 269-692-2423 or contact Gary Howe at gary@kalamazoospeedway.com.
