Towing Night
Wisconsin Dells, WI (August 7, 2010) - It was a special
night at Dells Raceway Park, as $45,000 worth of scholarships
were awarded to students through American Speed
Association and Ohio Technical College.
In the Late Model division, Davy Pennel was fastest on track
during qualifying with a time of 14.289 seconds. During the Assembly
Products, Dash for the Cash, Rich Schumann Jr finally got the
win that he has been looking for. Despite pressure from Bobby
Kendall, Schumann stayed in the lead and cruised into victory
lane.
In the feature event, Dale Schultz had the early lead, starting
from the pole position. Newcomer, Jon Lemke quickly moved into
second and then went to work on Schultz for the top spot. Lemke
gained the lead but a caution nearly midway through the feature
bunched the field back together again. During the double file
restart Andrew Kulka chose the outside lane, a smart move as
it positioned him to take over the lead on the restart. When
the green flag flew again, Kulka moved past Lemke, and held strong
throughout the rest of the race. It was Kulka's first feature
win of the season. Mike Ehde and Jon Lemke won the heat races.
Daron Fish was the Sportsman fast qualifier this week with a
time of 15.630 seconds. In the feature event the field was set
into motion with Denny Schott leading the pack. Schott held strong
while the group behind him shuffled ending with Tuffy Myer in
second. For the next 12 laps Schott and Myer battled for the
lead and in the last lap Myer powered past Schott for the win.
Denny Schott won the heat race.
Pure Stock super qualifier, Dave Trute, kept his season rolling
with his 9th fast time of the season, at 15.788 seconds. When
the feature event got underway, Bill Zeman quickly passed front-runners,
Willy Schreiber and Mark Ailes, to take over the lead. Zeman
had his work cut out for him, 15 laps to go and the dominant
2 car of Dave Trute right behind him. When the checkered flag
flew, Bill Zeman had his second feature win of the season. Heat
race winners were Willy Schreiber and Mark Hohl.
Kory Childs was the fastest Bandit on track during qualifying
with a time of 17.408 seconds. When the green flag flew for the
feature event, Kurt Kolden was the leader. Kolden stayed in the
front during the first half of the race, but Arnold Preston was
waiting for his opportunity. With 9 laps to go, Preston squeezed
past Kolden and cruised into Victory Lane for the second time
this season. Heat race winners were Brandon Skolaski, Kurt Kolden,
and Conrad Rothenburger.
