AMS Almost Holds Off “Big Ma Nature”

Fremont, In (July 24, 2010) - The Angola Motor Speedway almost held off Mother Nature this Saturday night in their attempt to get in the entire show. With the full show almost complete, Mother Nature brought a impressive light show with lights rains to TKO the show at 9:30 but the fans were still treated to a great night of racing with a great car count in all classes.

The MCR Dwarf division had a strong field of 20 cars that saw the spring winner KD Knodler set fast time with a lap of 88.722 MPH blistering the fast 3/8 mile track. The three heat races saw Craig Curtis, John Wylie, and Kevin Ayers pick up the wins in the Tri-State Line X winners circle. The Dwarfs with drivers from as far as Knoxville, TN got set to battle for a 30 Lap Feature. The Midwest Classic Racers always put on a great show for the fans that saw Rod Roney take the win over top series driver Craig Curtis, Mike McManman, Todd Getz, Joe McManman, Troy Hoffman, Junior Gould, KD Knodler, Jim Miller, and Kevin Ayers rounding out the top ten cars.

The Everage Auto Mini Stocks had a great field of cars with a few visitors from other tracks come to race with the Angola Stars. Ken Taylor and Rob Taylor made the trip from the Galesburg Speedway and were just racing for fun due to a different rules package than Angola Motor Speedway. Ken Taylor was the fastest in time trails with a lap of 79.165 MPH, besting the field. Cliff Bennett was the quickest of the legal cars with a lap of 76.263 MPH. The Johnny on the Spot FWD’s saw Mark Mason set fast time with a lap of 74.854 MPH.

The Mini Stock first heat race saw the race of the night with Kasten Everidge picking up his first ever heat race win for the 14 year old youngster. Kasten just edged veteran Justin Dubois at the line in a finish that would make fallen track owner Dick Poe smile from above. The second heat race saw Ken Taylor pick up the win, but saw Cliff Bennett pick up the first place money. The FWD heat race saw Jeff Shelmadine out battle Mark Mason and Bobby Smith to the line. The 15 lap combined feature saw the fan on their feet from start to finish with four wide racing through out the start to the finish of the race.

The Mini Stock race saw Justin Dubios lead most of the race until a patient Cliff Bennett picked his way to the front to pick up the win over Dubios, Kameron Lindlag, Zac Sipe, and Kasten Everidge rounding out the top five. The FWD feature saw Mark Mason get to the front fast and hold off Bobby Smith, Jeff Shelmadine, Timmy Rodgers, and Jeff Wolfsberger rounding out the top five.

The ARCA Trucks were at the Angola Motor Speedway for the first time in track history. The Trucks saw Chris Bailey set fast time besting the field of fifteen trucks. The trucks took the grid of for the start of the feature that saw a blown motor and few spins take a while to clean up that saw only 9 laps in before the rains and lightning came in to force that show to be cancelled. The Everage Motor Sports team will be working with the ARCA Truck officials for a make up date for the race.

The next race on the 2010 Everage Motor Sports Tour will be the Super Pro 100, Superior Auto Modifeds, Everage Auto Mini Stocks, Johnny on the Spot Fwd’s, and Figure 8 Trailer races on Saturday night August 14th, at 7:00pm. It will also be another $20 Car Load Night with $1 Beer and Hotdogs for Fan APPRECIATION.
